The job of a Bank Teller involves receiving and processing money when bank clients make deposits, distributing money when customers withdraw savings or write checks, cashing payroll checks, exchanging foreign currency, issuing traveler’s checks, receiving loan payments and performing other services in accordance with bank procedures.
Receiving and counting cash, identifying customers and validating their requests, processing cash withdrawals, accepting checks and cash for deposit, receiving and verifying utility bill, mortgage or loan payments, recording all transactions accurately, resolving issues with client accounts, opening new accounts, and promoting other bank products and services, among others.
successful candidate must possess at least a high school diploma and hands-on training in cash handling and customer service. A 4-year university degree in accounting, finance or a similar field will be an added advantage.
Excellent mathematics and problem-solving skills, proven customer service skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, and relevant computer skills. He/she must also be detail-oriented, accurate, honest, adaptable, a good listener and organized and posses sound judgment, integrity and stress tolerance.
